NORTH ISLAND, Calif. (Jan. 17, 2009) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) departs Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI). Stennis stopped at NASNI to pick up its air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, before continuing its scheduled six-month deployment to the western Pacific.
