Burch Perry to Succeed Scotty Harrell in Leading Albemarle Boats

NEW BERN, N.C., Feb. 23, 2007 – Burch Perry, a long-time officer of Albemarle Boats, has been promoted to vice president and general manager, reporting to Mark Harakal, president of the Hatteras Collection. Perry succeeds Scotty Harrell, who has resigned as president of Albemarle Boats to pursue other interests.

“I cannot say enough good things about the way the Harrell family built this business from the ground up,” said Harakal. “Scotty took the reigns from his father in 1990, and during his tenure the company has grown tremendously in both financial success and brand reputation. Albemarle Boats will always owe a great debt of gratitude to this boatbuilding family.”

Perry, who previously served as Albemarle's vice president of sales and marketing, is well known in the boatbuilding industry. A grandson to Scott Harrell Sr., who in 1978 founded Albemarle on the shores of the Albemarle Sound in Edenton, N.C., Perry has led the company's sales and dealership team since joining the brand in 1995. He is also a popular fixture on the East Coast tournament circuit, which he fishes regularly as a member of the Albemarle Fishing Team.

Brand New Design Features Resin-Infused Hull, Tournament Edition Option

May - 2006 -- Hatteras Yachts is pleased to announce an exciting new product that solidifies this legendary boat builder’s position as the industry leader in high-tech sportfish design. Featuring a mezzanine cockpit, lightweight construction, tumblehome curvature in the hullsides and an exciting new tournament edition, the Hatteras 60 Convertible is unlike any production boat in the marketplace today. From the beginning of this model’s design process, the Hatteras product development team has focused squarely on performance and fishability as top priorities. As such, the new 60 Convertible represents a paradigm shift for the company. Built in Hatteras’ new facility in Swansboro, North Carolina, the 60 will be the first Hatteras to feature a completely resin-infused hull, rather than one built up of layers of hand-laid fiberglass. The resin-infusion process produces a more uniform hull thickness from one hull to the next, as well as the most ideal glass-to-resin ratio possible. This one-two punch produces a boat that weighs significantly less because of the lowered resin content, while providing a more precise fit of bulkheads, stringers and other components for increased strength and durability.
