Launched at the 2006 London Boat Show, the sporty 490 De Luxe has set a new benchmark among discerning RIB users, who appreciate the exceptional quality Avon is renowned for. The chic, original design of the 490 inboard coupled with unrivalled performance makes the RIB perfect for satisfying the needs of the most demanding super-yacht and luxury RIB owners.

Steve Lang, Avon’s Sales and Marketing Manager commented; “The success of the entire Avon Seasport range has been fantastic. Our new 490 De Luxe is currently the only RIB in the Seasport range to be fitted with an inboard diesel engine, which gives added performance and efficiency. We are very proud of all of our Seasport range, but the 490 inboard offers a new dimension to customer expectations.”

The 490 has an in-line Volvo 2400cc 5-cylinder diesel inboard engine, allowing the craft to reach speeds of up to 37 knots (68.5km/h). Light, compact and silent, the 130hp engine has been developed using the latest diesel technology. The 490 benefits from low emissions due to the Volvo D3 engine common rail injection system, four valves per cylinder and Electronic Vessel Control (EVC). The EVC manages all on-board equipment, including the engine, controls and transmission, and warns immediately of any unusual situation. If there is a serious problem, the EVC reduces engine power, allowing it to continue in complete safety.

The 490 boasts the exceptional power and torque of a roadster whilst demonstrating significantly reduced power consumption. It caters for the broad range of activities that a yacht owner may require from a tender, providing the perfect vessel for transporting passengers, or enjoying watersports, family excursions or spirited trips at sea.

As well as exceptional performance, the eye-catching Seasport 490 De Luxe shows character and elegance in its unique design. The white upholstery of the seats and bench is triple thickness to resist the weather and retain its shape for years to come. The close fitting seats provide plenty of support, and, thanks to a deep, comfortable seat depth, provide the ideal driving position.

A dual console also ensures that all the vital controls are within easy reach, and allows the owner to tailor the additional instrumentation to meet their needs. Located under each console is the fuel storage, with a capacity of 120 litres, allowing a range of up to 7 hours cruising.

Avon use the finest materials available to the nautical industry and combine performance, comfort and style, striking the balance between elegance and the pleasure of intuitive driving, providing yacht owners with the ultimate tender.

The Inward Mission of Journalists takes place between 6th-9th June in Cowes and Dartmouth. For further information please contact the British Marine Federation. For further information about Avon Inflatables and their range of class leading RIBs and inflatables visit www.avonmarine.com
