Fairline Targa 38 Wins European Powerboat of the Year Award
22/01/2007 [International] (by Nicola Holder) -- Leading luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Fairline Boats Limited has been awarded the prestigious accolade of ‘European Powerboat of the Year’ for the Targa 38. The awards, which were judged by a panel of senior journalists drawn from top yachting magazines, recognise excellence in a range of categories for yachts launched in 2006.
The Fairline Targa 38 won in the 30ft to 40ft category in the face of strong competition from international competitors. The win was announced on the opening day of the Düsseldorf Boat Show and the award was accepted by Bryan Jones, Fairline’s Marketing Manager.

Magazines from 10 European countries, including Boote in Germany, Motor Boat and Yachting in the UK and Barche a Motore in Italy, Waterkampioen in Holland and Yate in Spain nominated possible candidates over the course of 2006 before the panel produced a shortlist of yachts. The final judging took place in the last round in November.
This award follows two category wins and one ‘Highly Commended’ for Fairline at the recent Motor Boat of the Year Awards, held during the London Boat Show at the Savoy in London, UK. The Targa 38 won the best Sportscruiser below 45ft category and the Squadron 68 won Flybridge above 50ft. The competition for the Flybridge below 50ft was so tight that the panel of judges recognised the Phantom 48 with a ‘Highly Commended’ award.
“Our 40th Anniversary year has started very successfully,” Bryan Jones, Marketing Manager at Fairline commented. “Not only have we won three awards for our models, but we had a record London Boat Show selling 55 boats. To win the European Powerboat of the Year award is testament to the design team and our skilled workforce who build our boats.”
