Revolutionary Volvo design in a brand new Fairline model

19/01/2007 [International] (by Nicola Holder) -- Fairline Boats plc has announced they will launch a brand new IPS model, the Targa 44 GRAN TURISMO, this spring. Plans for the new Targa will be available at boot Düsseldorf, which prior to launch has already been met with unprecedented demands from new and existing Fairline owners world-wide.

The new Targa 44 leads the way in technological development, having been exclusively designed to accommodate the new Volvo Penta IPS 500 inboard system. “After extensive testing, we were so impressed with the fuel economy and performance of the Volvo power units that we designed our latest Targa around its specific capabilities,” says Adam Greenwood, Technical Director at Fairline Boats.

Adam continues; “The Volvo IPS system has unique forward facing propellers, and to accommodate these remarkable engines we created a unique hull that has been specifically designed by Bernard Olesinski. When customers get behind the helm of the new Targa 44, they will see just why.”

The Targa 44’s hull is available in three colours including a new ‘sand’ option, and has been fine tuned to make the most of the revolutionary IPS system, which promises 15% faster acceleration and 30% better fuel economy. If customers select the joystick control they will also benefit from improved manoeuvrability, allowing owners to move forward, backwards and diagonally easily, making berthing a breeze.

The Targa 44 features a hardtop roof, making her the smallest Targa with Fairline’s GRAN TURISMO roof, which incorporates LED mood lighting, glazed feature panels with blinds and cockpit speakers. At the flick of a switch owners can turn the cockpit into an elegant saloon, or an area suitable for al fresco dining and sunbathing, with a seating area that easily converts into a bathing platform.

The thoughtful creation of the Targa 44 includes design elements such as the provision of a day-access toilet facility to ensure guest and owner accommodation is not disturbed, as well as an LCD TV and CD changer/radio with speakers that extend to every level of the boat.

All the facilities the discerning Fairline owner could require are at hand on the Targa 44, which features a cockpit bar complete with sink, hot and cold water, an optional icemaker, fridge, griddle and separate refrigerated cool box. Below deck she benefits from a comprehensive galley complete with a ceramic hob, combination oven/microwave, refrigerator, a hand-crafted dining table with seating for six and panoramic hull windows that are a remarkable feature of the boat.

Forward to this is the master cabin that offers luxurious sleeping quarters for owners, complete with an oversized double bed and en-suite facilities. Guests benefit from similar luxury with an aft cabin that has two single beds that convert effortlessly to a full sized double bed along with private en-suite facilities.

Throughout the boat, which features yet again, a new Targa interior there is highly crafted joinery in genuine American white oak with a satin finish, or customers can opt for lacquered American cherry or eucalyptus.

The Targa 44 also benefits from a huge teak laid bathing platform, perfect for owners to swim from, utilising the concealed bathing ladder. The optional passarelle will assist with tender handling and disembarking at the end of the day.

With expected speeds of 34 knots this dynamic new Targa from Fairline will be one of the most exciting and sought-after Targas launched to date.
