Power-Packed Line Up of Congressional Speakers Scheduled for 2006 American Boating Congress

Chicago, IL (Thursday, April 20, 2006) - Recreational boating industry leaders attending the 2006 American Boating Congress (ABC) will be treated to an impressive line-up of Congressional leaders. Several key Congressional leaders from both the House and Senate will speak to industry leaders regarding legislative and regulatory issues that impact the recreational marine industry and the boating public, the nation’s largest recreational marine manufacturing trade association, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced today.“We are in for a real treat to have so many influential legislators at the 2006 ABC,” said Monita Fontaine, NMMA Vice President of Government Relations. “Each of these Congressional leaders has shown great support for the boating industry in Congress, and the conversations and interactions between them and our industry leaders are sure to make this a memorable ABC.”

A bipartisan lineup of Congressmen and Senators will participate in the 2006 ABC, taking place April 30-May 2 at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. The NMMA announced that Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Nebr.) will deliver the 2006 ABC keynote address. Senator Hagel is a leading and well respected voice in the Senate and among his party, and has been previously mentioned as a possible 2008 Presidential contender.

Among the many members of Congress expected to speak during the 2006 ABC, NMMA has released the names of the following outstanding presenters during the two-day event, including:

* House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio)
* Senator Herb Kohl (D-Wis.)
* Senator Richard Burr (R-N.C.)
* Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.)
* Rep. Vernon Ehlers (R-Mich.)
* Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.)

“The American Boating Congress is the boating industry’s premier political and legislative event, bringing recreational boating leaders and government officials together on important matters impacting the recreational marine industry and boating public,” said NMMA President Thom Dammrich.

The conference provides manufacturing and government leaders with a forum to discuss important public policy matters and offers manufacturers an amazing opportunity to advocate one-on-one with members of Congress on issues impacting recreational boating.
